Landscaping supplies deal
Swedish landscaping and garden supplies company Husqvarna AB recently announced it would buy Gardena AG, a German company. The deal, for ($950 million, including assumption of debts), is with private equity owner, Industri Kapital that has owned Gardena since 2002.
Husqvarna, was spun off from Swedish appliance giant Electrolux in 2006. It is world's largest producer of chain saws, lawn mowers and other portable garden equipment. In addition to its own brands, it sells under its own brand products ranging from chainsaws to lawn mowers and from stump grinders to pressure washers, It also sells such brands as Weed Eater (trimmers), Bluebird (power edger, sod cutters, aerators, power rakes), Diamante Board (stone-cutting tools), Dimes (cutting tools), Dixon (commercial mowers), Feeler (power saws), Flume (lawn mowers), Jon reed (chain saws, trimmers), McCulloch, Partner, YazooKees (lawn mowers), Poulan (chain saws, garden tractors), and Target (power saws). The company serves both consumer and industrial sectors worldwide.
Gardena specializes in garden tools and garden ponds and pumps/ iT also sell both hand tools and power tools for the gardener.
Earlier this year, Husqvarna bought the outdoor power tools of Japan's Komatsu, including brush cutters, chainsaws, trimmers and blowers.
